Archimedes’ Principle…Enzymes…Grignard reagents…Going crazy? GAMSAT is no piece of cake. It is a med entrance test to enter some of the most premier medical institutions. So how do you nail it?
Eat, Drink, Sleep GAMSAT. All you REALLY want is to crack it. Well you are on the right track mate. You have to be sure you want it. Believe you can do it. The sooner you sort out your career aspirations, the better you prepare. Though it is better to start preparing about GAMSAT at the beginning of your second year in college, do what suits you. You can’t afford to have second thoughts about it. You will lose precious time and time is a rare commodity.
Prepare different. GAMSAT is unique. It will scan you to the core. So be prepared. It’s not just an examination…it’s an experience. Bookish knowledge has to be amalgamated with practical wisdom. Questions both in Section I and III are reasoning based and test your powers of comprehension and analysis.
The Net is your new best friend. Latest news, Test Papers, registration procedures, study groups, resources. You name it….its all there. Check these out:

However, just heaping information is no good…you have use it. Practice the mock Test Papers you have downloaded. Join forums. It is the best place to interact with fellow GAMSAT aspirants and get your doubts cleared. However, take advice with a pinch of salt. But don’t treat them like social networking sites. You are not there to make friends.
Fulcrum’s in the middle. Balance your preparation well. Just because you adore Physics does not mean you can treat English with neglect. Begin by sorting out your weaknesses. Work at it…taking one step at a time. You have to devote attention to all the sections:
- Humanities
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics
If you think you can beat it just by scoring well in parts you are good at…you think wrong. Assessment of answer scripts uses a complex process that leaves no space for guessing games.
Practice, practice, practice. Solve as many trial Test Papers with OMR sheets as you can. There are some good ones available for free download on the net. Keep time while solving them. Get hold of the key after you solve them and see where you went wrong. This will acclimatize you to the real McCoy – GAMSAT.

Win the war, not just the battle. Its D-day and you just don’t feel like giving it. Well, that’s the last thing you will want. We are not saying that you sit on a Hawaii beach sipping coconuts. But do learn to relax. Do your favourite stuff in between study sessions and you will be better prepared to face GAMSAT.
