UMAT
UMAT stands for The Undergraduate Medicine and Health Sciences Admission Test. It is held by (ACER Australian Council for Educational Research). You will need a UMAT score if you want to apply for 2010 undergraduate courses in the most premier med colleges in Australia and New Zealand.
Who can sit for UMAT?
Anyone who has completed (or is about to complete) their secondary level of education (‘12th year’ in Australia & ‘13th year’ in New Zealand) is eligible to apply for UMAT. No particular stream is given preference while applying to or sitting the UMAT.
What is the UMAT test like?
ACER has categorically stated that UMAT is an “aptitude test”. Yes that’s right! No maths, bio, physics or chemistry or any other subject to study. ACER emphasizes that UMAT is not a test of academic learning rather a test of skills required to become a good med practitioner. The test has three sections that test problem-solving skills, interpersonal skills, and non verbal reasoning.
